We asked one of our favourite influencers to pick the top 10 most instagrammable places in Malmö. She is the queen of clourful walls and runs the blog plumedaure.com, Aurélie. She´s been living in Malmö since 2015 when she moved here from Paris, why? For love of course! And now she´s fallen in love with Malmö too.
”I love this city because it is so colourful, multicultural and bubbly!” She says. “There are always so many things going on, events, festivals, or just having a “fika”. (Which of course is the Swedish word for having a coffee.) “Malmö is the perfect city, not too big nor to small. It has plenty of cafés, restaurants, shops and activities. The ambiance here is always nice – people are in a good mood!”
”Malmö is a very instagrammable city, here are my top tips for places to take a great picture of Mamö, yourself or your friends!” Says Aurélie.
COLOURFUL VINTAGE ADS
On Södra Förstadsgatan between Triangeln and Gustav Adolfs Torg you will find this beautiful old ad painted on the side of a house. It´s right above ”AB Småland” which is also a very nice café/décor shop/workshop space you should visit. There´s also a really nice old ad on the main square, Stortorget.
THERE´S NOTHING BETTER THAN A COLOURFUL WALL!
On Östergatan (between Värnhem and Kv. Caroli), there are quite a few colourful walls. This is the old part of Malmö filled with little shops, restaurants and fun things to do. Don´t miss the ”Boule bar” where you can enjoy a drink, a game and maybe some Moules frites.
You have to stop at the beautiful yellow building that houses ”Pâtisserie David”. The smell of fresh bread lingers in the air and the french éclairs are to die for!
This red house with the pink door just screams instagrammable. You will find it close to the Pâtisserie!
THATS WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE
Malmö is known as the city of parks. Although, there are a lot of beautiful bridges here too. This one is particularly instagrammable. ”Bagers bro” is a very minimalistic white bridge with a nice curve. Standing on it gives you a very nice view on Malmö’s central station and river from one side and of the congress centre and hotel ”Malmö Live” from the other. The bridge itself is beautiful in photos at sunset.
YELLOW WALLS REMIND ME OF SUNSHINE
There are loads of yellow walls in Malmö. Check out ”Holmgången” for a cute one. This little alley goes from the main street, Södra Förstadsgatan, to Davidshallsgatan and following it will lead you to the very quaint little area Davidshall. It is a lovely area full of little vintage shops and cozy cafés. In fact there is a very cute café inside of Holmgången called ”Café sockerbit”, which literally means “The sugarcube café”. How cute?
FEEL THE CALL OF THE OCEAN
If you take a walk around Malmö University by the water you’ll see plenty of instagrammable places, a cute red and white lighthouse, original art pieces, boats… take your pick!
OLD MALMÖ MEETS NEW FOOD EXPERIENCES
Food is life, and if you´re a foodie you will love this one. What is more instagrammable than food anyway? Make sure you stop for lunch at ”Malmö Saluhall”, where you can eat delicious stuff in a beautiful old building that was recently turned into a Food Hall.
”Well there are many more tips to come but theese are the first that came to mind. ” Says Aurélie. Let us know if you´d like more tips like this!
